Renewable Generation

Interested in generating electricity? Consider the benefits of generating green energy from renewable sources such as the sun, wind, water or bioenergy.  You can be part of Ontario’s growing green energy movement and contribute to a cleaner environment.

Net Metering Program Information

Thinking of using a renewable “green" energy technology to generate your own electricity and reduce your monthly costs? Net Metering might be the ideal solution for you.

Our Net Metering program is available to any Canadian Niagara Power Inc. customer who generates electricity primarily for their own use from a renewable energy source (wind, water, solar radiation or agricultural biomass).

Net metering allows you to send electricity generated from Renewable Energy Technologies (RETs) to Canadian Niagara Power's distribution system for a credit towards your electricity costs. Excess generation credits can be carried forward for a consecutive 12 month period to offset future electricity costs.

Distributed Energy Resources (DER's)

Distributed Energy Resources (DER) include solar panels, combined heat and power plants, energy storage facilities, and natural gas-fuelled generators.  Information on DER connections can be found in the links below:
