Canadian Niagara Power Inc. has a strong and reliable electricity system, but occasionally we are at the mercy of the Canadian climate. In the winter, heavy snow or ice storms can cause power lines to break, while in the summer and fall, fierce winds, rain and lightning can cause extensive damage that leads to power outages.

CNPI Pole Testing Notification

Please note that Canadian Niagara Power Inc. “CNPI” has rendered the services of third party contractor G-Tel Engineering perform hydro pole testing within CNPI’s service territory. During the period of October 2016 to November 2016, CNPI customers north of the QEW and in some sections of Ridgeway may see G-Tel workers in and/or around hydro poles, some of which may be located on CNPI customer property, as they test the hydro poles. This pole testing program will continue annually for the next 5 years in order to facilitate the testing of each pole within CNPI’s distribution inspection area boundaries. The pole testing program is an important part of CNPI’s business as it will provide enhanced asset condition information for all poles while aiding with future budgeting and maintenance planning. G-Tel employees will carry identification and a letter from CNPI identifying them as a third party contractor should you have any concerns. CNPI will also update social media as G-Tel moves throughout our communities. Thank you.
